Since our humble beginnings in 1991, Sunlover Reef Cruises has introduced over 1.3 million guests to the natural wonders of Australia's world heritage listed Great Barrier Reef. Today Sunlover's 80 strong team operate our world class Great Barrier Reef cruises from our main base in sunny Cairns. From here, guests can enjoy day trips or overnight stays at our state-of-the-art pontoons (floating platforms) nestled in pristine Moore Reef, 40 KM offshore from Cairns and secluded Arlington Reef, a little further to the north.
Once aboard our pontoons reached via high speed catamaran, our guests can 'discover the real reef' at their own pace, with activities on offer including scuba diving, seawalker helmet diving, snorkelling and even scenic helicopter flights to fully appreciate the awesome scale and beauty of this very special corner of the world.
As citizens of the reef, Sunlover is also certified as an official ecotourism operator and we take great pride in educating our guests about the importance of preserving this unique environment.
Sunlover Reef Cruises began our operations in Cairns, Queensland Australia in 1991, with only 7 staff at the time. Currently we employ over 80 staff and have introduced in excess of 1.3 million guests to the magnificent beauty of the Great Barrier Reef in that time. From 1991 to January 2006 Sunlover Reef Cruises was owned by NYK Line.
In February 2006 Sunlover Reef Cruises was acquired by Ocean Capital Ltd, an Australian owned tourism and hospitality company focusing primarily on the Far North Queensland region.
Today, our central mission is to continually improve the quality of our guest experience, and to be an industry leader offering a sustainable and compelling Australian tourism product.
